The second wave of Universal Blu-ray + DVD flipper discs is due April 27 and will include Traffic, The Jackal, and Out of Africa: 25th Anniversary Edition, all with an SRP of $26.98.

With this move from HD DVD to Blu-ray support comes many questions, including how Universal will approach audio with the expanded room a BD-50 disc offers over a 30GB dual-layered HD DVD disc.

There isn’t much that can be done except to point out the numbers of Blu-ray over HD-DVD. Hopefully as Blu-ray becomes more successful, maybe Universal will take a different stance on the situation.

Universal has shown an amazing effort to stay HD-DVD exclusive and backs the strategy in every way they can. However the time may have finally come that Universal starts to sell Blu-ray HD movies.
