The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol is responsible for ensuring safety and enforcing traffic laws on the state's highways.

Nevada's Department of Public Safety is comprised of nine divisions and three offices committed to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Nevada and our visitors.

On July 1, 1949, the Nevada Highway Patrol Division was created within the Nevada Public Service Commission. These officers were directed to act as field agents and inspectors in the enforcement of the State laws as they pertained to Nevada highways.
