Ján Kuciak (17 May 1990 – 21 February 2018) was a Slovak investigative journalist. Kuciak worked as a reporter for the news website Aktuality.sk and focused mainly on investigating tax fraud of several businessmen with connections to top-level Slovak politicians. [2]

Ján Kuciak and Martina Kušnírová were murdered on February 21, 2018. The murder was ordered to stop Ján's journalistic work. Ján Kuciak was the first Slovak investigative journalist who regularly collaborated with colleagues abroad, such as Panama Papers.
