What are residence halls like at Wellesley? Each res hall has its own style and personality. Stone-Davis has a stunning view of the lake, for example, while Freeman has huge closets. New students are assigned to a res hall based on the information they provide on their housing form.

At the heart of Wellesley’s bucolic campus just outside Boston, the stately Gothic Revival-style Severance Hall, Tower Court, and Claflin Hall form a U-shaped residential complex that opens onto scenic Lake Waban. Built between 1915 and 1930, the residence halls have brick masonry facades with cast stone trim, and are covered by slate roofs.

In spring 2022, designLAB led the recent renovation of Tower Court, a historic 350-bed dormitory at Wellesley College. The primary goal was to prepare the dormitory for a future low-temperature hot water service (geothermal).

Oct 20, 2023 · Tower Court is one of the biggest and prettiest buildings on our campus. According to Wellesley’s website, around 360 people live in it. This year, that number includes me. To be honest, when I was choosing where I wanted to live this year during the summer, Tower was not a top choice for me.

Finegold Alexander has been working closely with Wellesley College as it embarks on a 10-year plan to renovate and upgrade their portfolio of historic residence halls. The effort began with an in-depth study of Severance Hall—a 1927 Victorian-Gothic structure.

The historic Wellesley Tower Court project consisted of renovating the existing 108,089 SF, 214-unit dorm building. Work included finish upgrades in the dorms, common areas, shared bathrooms, and kitchenettes.

Originally designed in 1955 by the architecture firm Compton + Pierce, Acorns House at Wellesley College had historically been used as a residence for the Dean of Students. The primary design challenge was to transform the modernist building into a new home for Asian, Latina, and LGBTQ+ Advising within the Office of Intercultural Education (OIEC).
