Silurian sedimentary rocks, of both Llandovery and Wenlock age, are found along the eastern and southern margins of the park. Bodies of intrusive igneous rocks of Silurian age wrap around the margins of the Harlech Dome and are frequently exposed within the northern mountains.

The Llanbedr (Mochras Farm) core (Wales, UK) yielded a >1300 m long mudrock sequence that has excellent potential for establishing an integrated stratigraphic scheme for the entire Early Jurassic Epoch. Lithological variations in the core are predominantly driven by hierarchical changes in the carbonate content.

Aug 8, 2012 · Gareg Lwyd is one of a few outcrops that break the landscape and provide a feature on this long finger of moorland. It is a particularly attractive spot with a pool at the base of the rocks. It was an excellent spot to sit, the rocks providing shelter from the breeze.
