The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent agency of the United States government that is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance.

We engage with partners to respond to needs expressed by ordinary citizens and to better enable local residents to drive and sustain community development. This draws on America’s long history of support to Lebanon, where the U.S. has been providing foreign assistance since 1951.

Overlapping crises—including the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing refugee crisis, and August 4 explosions at the Port of Beirut—have exacerbated vulnerabilities among Lebanese nationals and refugee populations in Lebanon.
