Each branch of the United States Armed Forces has its own uniforms and regulations regarding them. Currently, two patterns are in use: AOR-1, which is primarily tan, and AOR-2 (shown above), which is primarily green. Coast Guard members assigned to deployed or deployable units and those cross-assigned to Navy commands wear the NWU.

The U.S. Army Regulation 670-1 and Department of the Army Pamphlet 670-1 are the definitive regulations governing the design, appearance, wear and issue of the uniforms of the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves, Army National Guard, and State Defense Forces.

The Army National Guard standard uniform is the ACU or Army Combat Uniform. This uniform consists of a coat, trousers, a patrol cap, and a t-shirt or undershirt. The ACU is worn during tactical operations, field training, and physical training.

AR 670-1 is the U.S. Army regulation that outlines the standards for the wear and appearance of Army uniforms and insignia, which includes guidelines on how uniforms should be worn, grooming standards, and the proper display of badges and ribbons for both enlisted personnel and officers.
