Mar 12, 2017 · In MERP, the Middle-earth Role Playing Game, the Blue Wizards were said to have both fallen in ways similar to Saruman. Alatar became addicted to Hunting and the other Blue Wizard, Pallando developed a fascination with death. While they started as friends, in the end they became rivals and may well have killed each other off.

Tolkien suggested in the Letters that he imagines they started some cult of some kind and essentially failed their task much like all but Gandalf. But Alatar and Pallando are their names indeed. –

Aug 8, 2021 · Elsewhere in the canon (in "Unfinished Tales") their names are given as "Pallando" and "Alatar". Those names are used in many derivative works, eg the collectible card game. Much later in his life he wrote more about the blue wizards and named them Morinehtar and Rómestámo ("Darkness-slayer" and "East-helper").

Whether they remained in the East, pursuing there the purposes for which they were sent; or perished; or as some hold were ensnared by Sauron and became his servants, is not not known. May 6, 2013 · We know Gandalf, Radagast, Saruman, Pallando and Alatar, who were all Istari, Maiar in physical form. The Elves can also do 'magic', as can Sauron, being a Maiar himself. Were there any other people with magical capabilities? The Nazgûl also seem to be able to do magic, the Witch-king made Frodo's sword break, for example.

Aug 12, 2021 · There are here also some rough tables relating the names of the Istari to the names of the Valar: Olorin to Manwe and Varda, Curumo to Aule, Aiwendel to Yavanna, Alatar to Orome, and Pallando also to Orome (but this replaces Pallando to Mandos and Nienna). Unfinished Tales, the Istari. Olorin = Gandalf, Curumo = Saruman, Aiwendil = Radagast.
