"This is a substantial threat not only to Volusia County but to many areas," Volusia County Emergency Management Director Clint Mecham said.

Hurricane Milton is moving toward Florida's west coast and is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane in the Tampa Bay region.

Hurricane Milton weakened slightly Monday night into a Category 4 storm, but was still packing sustained winds of 155 mph as it remains on course to make landfall on Florida's west coast by Wednesday night.
