Tonight and throughout January, stargazers can see a planetary alignment in the night sky or what some are calling a planetary parade.

For much of January and February, you have the chance to see six planets in our solar system after dark, although two — Uranus and Neptune — will be hard to see without a telescope or high-powered binoculars.

Because planets always appear in a line, the alignment isn't anything out of the norm. What's less common is seeing so many bright planets at once.

A celestial event being hyped by some internet sites as an extremely rare planetary alignment has been oversold, astronomers are saying, but it should be a cool show if the sky is clear Saturday evening.

Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are visible to the naked eye this month and for part of February. Uranus and Neptune can be spotted with binoculars and telescopes.
