NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in its Sunday night update has maintained a Level 3 out of 5 (or enhanced) risk for severe weather for all of north and part of central Alabama tonight and into Monday morning (areas in orange in the map at the top of this post).

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms pass through Alabama overnight into Monday morning bringing locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Some storms will be intense after midnight threatening severe wind gusts over 60 miles per hour, large hail, and tornadoes. Check the video for the latest forecast.

The possibility of severe weather remains in the forecast for Alabama both on Sunday and Monday. Tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and heavy rain will all be possible on both days, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters added that the tornado threat is uncertain, but there is the potential for it to increase.

At least 12 tornadoes have been confirmed in Alabama as of Tuesday, following severe weather on Saturday. The strongest confirmed tornado was an EF3 with winds of 140 mph, resulting in two fatalities and two injuries.

We are tracking a line of severe storms that will bring the chances of tornadoes, high winds and hail during the Monday morning commute.

"TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building," the tornado warning said. "Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."
