At least 23 dairy and poultry farms in Riverside County have tested positive for Avian influenza, or bird flu, the virus causing outbreaks in several other​ parts of the U.S., health officials said Wednesday.

Riverside County health officials are responding to 23 farms testing positive for Avian influenza with safety guidelines.

Bird flu, or Avian influenza, is a virus that is spread from infected cows, birds and other animals to people.

Animals at 25 egg and dairy production facilities, including one backyard coop, have tested positive, says the county health department.
