The number of guns found at airport checkpoints in North Carolina rose last year, led by a 17% increase at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration said Wednesday.

Those numbers are slightly down from 2023. In North Carolina, officers detected 250 firearms up slightly from the previous year.

More guns were detected at Logan Airport security checkpoints by TSA officials last year compared with the year before. But overall, fewer guns were detected at all eight New England airports in the same time frame.
