Governor Maura Healey issued Nibi a permit allowing the 2-year-old beaver who captured the hearts of people across the country to stay at the rehabilitation where she’s lived most of her life.

Following public outcry and involvement from Massachusetts’ highest office, Nibi an orphaned 2-year-old beaver will not be sent back into the wild and allowed to become an educational beaver.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey issued a permit to the Newhouse Wildlife Rescue for Nibi, a 2-year-old beaver, allowing her to stay at the wildlife rehabilitation center and serve as an educational animal.
