In the early part of the day the S&P 500 futures (SPX) were even, the Nasdaq 100 futures (US100:IND) were higher by 0.1%, and the Dow futures (INDU) were lower by 0.1%. U.S. Treasury yields have inched up to start the week with the shorter end more rate sensitive U.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down 55.39 points or 0.1% to end at 43,389.60 for its third straight daily loss, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The S&P 500 rose 23.00 points or 0.4% to finish at 5,893.62. The Nasdaq Composite gained 111.69 points or 0.6% to close at 18791.81.

U.S. stock index futures on Tuesday fell amid geopolitical concerns triggered by developments in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Safe haven assets such as Treasury yields, gold and the Japanese yen rallied.

European stock markets slid Tuesday on fears of escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war after President Vladimir Putin broadened rules on his country's use of nuclear arms, analysts said.
