Earlier today, Prince William had an official royal engagement in London, in which he visited homelessness charity Centrepoint. Just hours after his public appearance, the Prince of Wales jetted off to Monaco where he was photographed watching his favorite soccer team, Aston Villa, compete in the UEFA Champions League.

The royal was spotted with two of his longtime pals watching their favorite soccer team Aston Villa in a high-pressure match.

Prince William was in Monaco to watch Aston Villa in the Champions League. But the future king of England couldn’t bring his beloved team luck as the Premier League side fell to a 1-0 defeat at Stade Louis II.

AS Monaco edged out Aston Villa 1-0 at home in the Champions League on Tuesday, thanks to an early goal from Wilfried Singo, to secure the Ligue 1 side their first win of the year. Monaco snapped a four-game winless run across all competitions to provisionally sit ninth in the 36-team Champions League table with 13 points.

Aston Villa miss the chance to all but secure their place in the Champions League knockouts as they were beaten by Monaco at Stade Louis II.

The Prince of Wales, 42, went to Monaco on the south coast of France on Tuesday to watch his beloved Aston Villa play in the UEFA Champions League against AS Monaco. His solo appearance at the game comes after his wife Kate Middleton announced that she is in "remission" from cancer on Jan. 14.
