Rain turning to snow will develop across Siouxland from Thursday evening into Friday night with Friday morning likely being a pretty snow time in much of Siouxland before the precipitation comes to an end as the afternoon hours go along Friday.

We went from near 60 degrees on Wednesday to snow on Thursday. March is behaving like March likes to behave! The return to winter-like weather will last not only into Friday, but into at least the first half of the weekend.

Partly cloudy on Sunday and milder with highs in the upper 40s. Spring-like on Monday, with a fair amount of sunshine. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. More sun than clouds on Tuesday, with highs around 50.

Our winds will also be a bit breezy, but nothing like we saw Tuesday night and into Wednesday. The National Weather Service has put much of Siouxland under a Winter Weather Advisory starting this evening until 6 PM Friday. We will likely see this Winter Weather Advisory be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.

After reaching nearly 60 degrees two days in a row, we’re back to cold temperatures, strong winds, and a little bit of snow. Yay…. (Don’t worry, we’ll see the return of warmer temps… more on that later.

The area witnessed extensive damage, including tossed trailers, mangled roofs, and downed trees and powerlines.

A First Alert Weather Day was issued due to possible strong to severe storms between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The line of storms enter SGA after midnight with threats of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Storm chances are also in the forecast before 9 a.m. as a system moves easterly through our region with winds elevated throughout the day.

We still have a First Alert Weather Day for Tuesday tonight through Wednesday afternoon due to snow and gusty winds. Snowfall totals will range from only a couple of inches in communities such as Wautoma & The Fox Valley to as high as 7-12″ up in the Northwoods.
