A woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car at Capitol Avenue and Main Street in Bridgeport Thursday morning, a city official says.

A car in Bridgeport hit a 72-year-old woman Wednesday, who is currently in critical condition, according to the city's police department. Just before 9 a.m., responders including Bridgeport Fire 1, American Medical Response and Bridgeport police went to the crash that took place at the intersection of Main Street and Capitol Avenue.

Police said the 72-year-old woman was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
