The changes include revised transaction charges by stock exchanges, an increase in Securities Transaction Tax (STT), and new taxation rules governing share buybacks.

The stock market will be closed for nine days in October. These include four Saturdays and four Sundays. According to the NSE website, there is only one weekday holiday in the entire month, for Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

As there is a bank holiday in most states on 2nd October over Gandhi Jayanti, investors are also checking whether the stock market will observe the holiday on the same date or not.

Both the stock exchanges - National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed to observe one national holiday in October. Moreover, investors should note that NSE enables trading operations throughout the year to provide a pleasant trading experience.

There will be two holidays for Indian stock market in the month of October on the occassion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange has also marked 2nd October as a holiday for equity trading, according to its holiday calendar.

The first holiday in October for BSE and NSE is scheduled on October 2, which will also be its only special holiday of the month. The rest of them are weekends.
