GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The South Rim Fire burned 1,640 acres as of 11:00 p.m. on Thursday according to the InciWeb. The fire started around 11:30 a.m. and was caused by a lightning strike.
Lightning is the cause of two fires burning near the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
The larger of the two fires is near the south entrance of the park- it's a little more than 1,600 acres with no containment.
