GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The South Rim Fire burned 1,640 acres as of 11:00 p.m. on Thursday according to the InciWeb. The fire started around 11:30 a.m. and was caused by a lightning strike.
The larger of the two fires is near the south entrance of the park- it's a little more than 1,600 acres with no containment.
