Rory McIlroy hit just the second hole-in-one of his PGA Tour career on Thursday, a remarkable slam dunk ace on Hole 15 of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Spyglass Hill.

Am, and heading into the final round on the Monterey Peninsula, it is perhaps the biggest in the field who is just out sharing the lead. Rory McIlroy was simply brilliant Saturday in the cold and blustery conditions as he navigated Pebble Beach Golf Links in bogey-free fashion en route to a 7-under 65 to sit one stroke behind 54-hole leader Sepp Straka at 16 under.

McIlroy was in complete control of his shots, leading to two key birdies when he made the turn against a pack of contenders. And then he delivered a haymaker, blasting his drive over a tree down the 14th fairway, leaving him only a 7-iron to the 571-yard hole to set up eagle.
