A team of deputies and medical staff performed CPR and used an AED until paramedics arrived, but they could not revive him, a new release said.

According to the Newport News Sheriff’s Office, a deputy making rounds found a 38-year-old male inmate unresponsive in a seated position at 3:03 a.m. The deputy immediately called for assistance, and a team of deputies and medical staff performed CPR and used an AED until paramedics arrived, but they could not revive him, the press release stated.

The Newport News Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a burglary suspect. On Thursday, Jan. 2, officers responded to a call at approximately 8:45 a.m. in reference to a disturbance at a business in the 10700 block of Jefferson Avenue.
