Former central banker Mark Carney is poised to announce that he’s jumping into the race to succeed Justin Trudeau as leader of the Liberal Party and Canadian prime minister.

Mark Carney, the former governor of the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada, is considering running for leadership of Canada’s Liberal party after prime minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation this week.

The former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, Mark Carney, says he is "considering" entering the race to replace Justin Trudeau as the leader of Canada's Liberal Party. Trudeau said on Monday he would step down after nine years as Canadian prime minister - following growing pressure from his own party and poor opinion polling.
