Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Yayha Aziz and Abdul Salam were indicted on June 9. Iqbal and Aziz were sentenced to five years in prison while Makki and Salam to one-year each.
The accused are Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Salam and Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki. The men were associates of Hafiz Saeed, who was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison in February.
Saeed was brought to the court from Lahore ’s Kot Lakhpat jail in tight security. The absence of Malik Zafar Iqbal, the co-accused, prompted the court to adjourn the proceedings till December 11.
Co-defendant Malik Zafar Iqbal, one of Saeed’s close aides, was given a similar punishment. Saeed was arrested in July last year and charged with collecting funds for a banned organization.
