Refer to a shop manual to find the location of your EGR valve. If its fairly accessible, stop at an auto parts store and buy a new EGR gasket, a spray can of throttle body cleaner, and rust penetrant.

But if the solenoid is truly dead, there's no choice but to replace it with a new one. You might think you could simply jumpstart your car, but it's not so easy with a dead starter solenoid.
