A bill that would give Texas teachers raises was filed in the Texas Senate on Tuesday. State Sen. Brandon Creighton of Conroe filed Senate Bill 26 on Feb. 18. It would give teachers raises based on their experience and the size of the school district.

Sen. Brandon Creighton filed a bill Tuesday aimed at increasing pay for Texas teachers. More experienced teachers could get a bump of up to $10,000.

A recent budget analysis noted the Texas Senate’s voucher bill could affect the fund if it leads students and teachers to leave public schools.
