Attorneys for Bryan Kohberger, the Monroe County man charged with the murders of four University of Idaho students, are asking a judge to throw out most of the evidence in the case.

Bryan Kohberger's defense has asked that a hearing on the use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy be opened to the public.

Hippler was appointed to oversee the trial, replacing Judge John Judge, when the trial moved from Latah County to Boise after the defense successfully argued that he would not have an impartial jury in the tight-knit community of Moscow because of the extensive media coverage potentially tainting the jury pool.

If society is not ready to support suppression of every bit of our DNA when the government does not have a warrant and searches it, there is no privacy right left,” said Anne Taylor, lead defense attorney.

The judge will now decide whether to allow key DNA evidence to be presented at his murder trial.
