This is the last time the seven planets will appear together in the night sky until 2040. Here's when it's happening – and how to see them yourself.

Although the occurrence climaxed on Jan. 21 with a conjunction—close alignment—of Saturn and Mercury, the planetary parade will culminate on Feb. 28 when all the planets line up. This month’s parade with all seven planets lining up will be the last one for the next 15 years when Saturn and Jupiter are back on the same side of the sky in 2040.

If you missed seeing the alignment of six planets in the sky in January, don't worry. Another one is coming up in February. And it could be even better, because this particular event is an alignment of seven planets.

Seven planets are set to appear in the night sky this month in a rare full planetary alignment. Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, Mercury and Saturn will appear in a row on the evening of 28 February, marking the last time for 15 years that all of the planets will be visible at the same time.

Though the planets are always “aligned,” seeing more than four in the sky is more uncommon. February’s lineup is a chance to glimpse all seven in one sweeping view.

Five of the brightest planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, can be seen even from urban areas with mild pollution.
