The Table Rock State Park wildfire, allegedly started by teenagers, has grown to 4,556 acres and is at 0% containment. A burn ban was in effect at the time of the fire, which was discovered during the search for a missing hiker.
The Table Rock fire, 45 minutes northwest of Greenville, SC, doubled in size again and entered the state park. Authorities put mandatory evacuations in place.
There’s been no containment of the Table Rock fire in South Carolina after a week, Gov. Henry McMaster says. An estimated 10,672 acres have been burned so far.
The wildfires at Table Rock State Park have closed all trail systems, campgrounds, plus roads and highways near the fires.
The search for missing Stephanie Womacks was called off after the Table Rock wildfire ignited on Friday, March 21, according to a press release from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies initially discovered the blaze while searching for Womacks.
