NHC: Hurricane Milton returns to Cat 5 strength as it approaches Florida
TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane Milton has returned to Category 5 strength as it approaches Florida's west coast the National Hurricane Center said. "Florida residents should get their families and homes ready and evacuate if told to do so," forecasters said in the latest advisory.
There have been 42 such Cat 5 hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin since 1924, according to NOAA's historical database.
