President Donald Trump’s push to quickly overhaul the nation’s immigration system is at the center of a civil war between Ron DeSantis and Florida Republicans.

House Speaker Danny Perez and Senate President Ben Albritton pushed back in a way the governor hasn’t seen before.

The Florida House and Senate opened and then immediately adjourned a special session Monday called by Gov. Ron DeSantis to deal with his slate of immigration bills — but will regather to consider their own legislation later this week.
