Much of the eastern half of the United States is bracing for severe weather this weekend, with “life-threatening” flash flooding possible in parts of the Southeast and significant snow set to blanket the Upper Midwest through to New England.

Strong tornadoes are possible across the South as storms pass through the Gulf Coast region. Some locations could see half a foot of rain, worsening flooding.

Meteorologist Kyle Grainger is tracking downpours to some snow this weekend with a frigid airmass moving in late next week.
