The Cal women’s basketball team’s defeat of Stanford at Haas Pavilion on Dec. 13 was, to some, a shock despite Cal’s strong start to the season. There was no such surprise around Thursday’s result.

Kayla Williams scored 18 points, Ioanna Krimili added 17 and No. 22 California held on to beat Stanford 75-72 for the Golden Bears’ first season sweep of the Cardinal in 39 years.

The Stanford Cardinal will host conference opponent No. 22 Cal. The teams square off Thursday for the first time this season.
