COSTA MESA – An early morning water main break on the South Coast Plaza property flooded a parking lot and sent mud flowing into three lanes on a major street, closing them for several hours.

Gunfire rang out at South Coast Plaza Thursday evening, but there were no immediate reports of anyone being wounded. It happened in the mall’s northeast parking structure, Costa Mesa Police Sgt.
