The Boston Celtics have traded guard Jaden Springer to the Houston Rockets, parting ways with the 23-year-old wing defender just a year after acquiring him at last season’s trade deadline.

The Boston Celtics are dealing backup guard Jaden Springer to the Houston Rockets. Springer, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2030 second-round pick were traded to the Rockets for a 2031 second-round pick.

The Celtics on Wednesday traded the 22-year-old Springer and a 2031 second-round pick for a 2031 pick that will be heavily protected. Basically, the Celtics sought to shed salary, open up an opportunity to add a more impactful player in the buyout market, and save money.
