PayPal now allows customers to pay for their purchases by scanning a QR code in an effort to minimize physical contact at stores. The feature is available in the U.S., U.K., and 26 more markets.

PayPal wants to be more than a way to pay online. It's investing in brick-and-mortar payments, via its Venmo credit and debit cards as well as QR codes embedded in its app as a way to pay in-store.

The new QR codes are also another way PayPal has been working to bring its services into stores, which included integrating with Google Pay and Samsung Pay, and offering a cash card.
