PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A 66-year-old Putnam County man is recovering after being hit by a car while crossing the Memorial Bridge in Palatka Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A man who disappeared in the St. Johns River in Palatka while kayaking on Wednesday night has been found dead.
Jeremiah Beck, 43, disappeared Wednesday while kayaking out to a boat he lives on in the St. Johns River in Putnam County.
Authorities began searching for the man at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Memorial Bridge in Palatka. Efforts were paused around 11 p.m. and are expected to resume Thursday morning.
According to Putnam County Fire Rescue, the crash happened on South Highway 17 and Sunset Point Road. This is the area just south of the Memorial Bridge. The crash is in its clean-up stages.
