Caught in the middle of it all is none other than mountain man Jim Bridger. Portrayed by legendary character actor Shea Whigham, Bridger is a connective tissue between many of the supporting characters in Primeval.

This episode fleshes out the world these characters inhabit, as well as the lives some of them have led. The key figure here is Isaac, the tracker who rescued Sara Holloway and her son Devin from certain death at the hands of the Mormon militia the Nauvoo Legion and their indigenous allies.

American Primeval’s second episode wastes no time, picking up mere moments after the end of the premiere, which left a dazed Jacob looking for his wife in the middle of a field filled with dead bodies.
