A bout of intense wildfire activity was triggering evacuations and threatening structures in Interior Alaska on Saturday as firefighting crews worked to protect communities, cabins and infrastructure.

The pilot, Keith Hall, 67, and his grandson, Rostam Hall, 7, a passenger, died in the fiery crash June 3, according to their death certificates.
