A new wildfire was reported today at 6:14 p.m. in El Dorado County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Two people were found dead at a home in the Mohawk Valley area outside Springfield on Sunday. An individual has been detained.

A new prescribed burn, called Marshall Pile, was initiated 8:18 a.m. Feb. 18 in El Dorado County. The prescribed fire has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for 31 hours.
