FOX31 Pinpoint Weather Team Meteorologist Liz McGiffin is looking ahead at the week for potential snow chances, which will begin late Monday night and will continue into Tuesday.

Denver is expanding its homeless shelter offerings Monday afternoon through Wednesday morning, as cold weather and snow threaten residents sleeping outdoors.

Snow will taper off in the mountains through Thursday afternoon as the city experiences more sunshine and seasonal highs in the Denver weather forecast.

Most locations in the Denver metro area will be in the low 40s with 30s in the mountains. Moderate snow for the mountains begins Saturday afternoon, increasing this evening/overnight. Winter weather advisories have been posted for most of the northern and central mountains through Sunday afternoon.

As temperatures in Denver are forecast to drop into the the teens overnight Monday and Tuesday, the city is opening up three overflow cold weather shelters.

Mild conditions are moving into Denver’s weather forecast Friday ahead of the chance for weekend snow. Thursday night, snow showers will wrap up in the high country, and a few clouds will linger in the metro.

The Denver weather forecast is cold and a bit snowy over the next week. Although snow accumulations in the metro are expected to be small, higher totals are likely in the eastern plains and high country overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
