Duolingo's new chess course starts at ground one, teaching users how each piece moves. Users will then learn how to spot tactical patterns and build a winning strategy, a news release states.

This game teaches beginning players the moves and powers of each chess piece as they’re playing. Then, once they’re comfortable, they can flip over the two-sided board and play standard chess.

The chess pieces on the board can move without any help. Think Wizard’s Chess from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, where the pieces magically slide across the board to their designated tiles.
