A pro-Palestinian group at the University of Michigan has been suspended for two years and will lose its funding in connection with protesters’ demands for divestiture from companies doing business with Israel.

The ACLU of Michigan and the Sugar Law Center for Economic & Social Justice filed a federal lawsuit Monday against the University of Michigan, alleging the school has unconstitutionally banned protesters from its Ann Arbor campus in an effort to silence dissent.

Students Allied for Freedom and Equality said they are unfairly targeted by the university and would not stop demonstrating due to the suspension.
