Some Austin area zip codes are booming in popularity. So much so that five of our zip codes rank in the top 50 on a list of areas with the most apartments being built nationwide.

Unlike many other top-ranked ZIP codes, only 45% of its newly built apartments fall into the high-end category. Also within the heart of Austin, 78702 and 78705 have seen substantial additions.

The zip code had about 1,500 apartments in 2018 and just under 4,000 by 2022, an increase of more than 160%. East Austin’s 78724 also saw an increase in the number of apartments of more than 150%.

The 2024 list of the area's wealthiest ZIP codes takes a look at the six counties that make up the Austin area: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Burnet and Caldwell.

Zip codes from Cedar Park and Pflugerville also ranked within the top 10, joining eight Austin zips. In total, zip codes that correspond to Austin accounted for at least 6,851 season ticket holders.
