Former New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren made his debut with the Colorado Avalanche after a trade this past weekend.

The sparingly used defenseman has one more game to convince the Blueshirts he's worth keeping around for the stretch run.

But with change comes opportunity for some of the guys who have been waiting their turn. Adam Fox and Chris Kreider going on injured reserve, and Reilly Smith being held out of the lineup while Drury tries to trade him has opened spots in the lineup and given a chance to young guys such as Zac Jones, Brett Berard and Brennan Othmann.

The Blueshirts traded two of their pending UFAs in one deal, netting Juuso Parssinen, Calvin de Haan and two draft picks in return.

The locker room is taking on a much different feel, as well. Lindgren and Vesey were as popular as any teammates in recent years, and they now join Filip Chytil, Barclay Goodrow, Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba as players who have been ousted following a multi-year run of success with minimal turnover.
