He said the family will have to reckon with the future of the fourth-generation business, which was established in 1908 and is tucked among the vineyards and agricultural lands of Long Island's North Fork, about 80 miles (129 km) east of Manhattan.
To be sure, the majority of people on Long Island and the east coast may not react to levels of particulates that are considerably lower than for residents of Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Local doctors suggested that these particles can trigger a range of health problems for those who are closer to the flames and smoke.
The rally was organized to coincide with a national day of action sponsored by National Offshore-Wind Opposition Alliance, based in California.
