(Image credit: Sicily Superintendence of the Sea) A Roman battering ram found at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea was used during an epic battle that unfolded more than 2,200 years ago.
The bronze fragment of the ram, called a rostrum, was found 80 metres below sea level between the Aegadian islands Levanzo and Favignana, found in the Mediterranean north-west of Sicily.
