FORT ALBANY - As the Albany River continues to rise rapidly, residents of Fort Albany First Nation are preparing for the worst while hoping for the best.

Hundreds of members of the Cree First Nation in Fort Albany on James Bay are trapped by spring flooding at Sinclair Island, unable to access groceries, money, hospital services or the local runway.

On Sunday, April 27, 2008, residents of Fort Albany First Nation, Ontario evacuated their homes due to extreme flooding. The community had a population of 900 comprised of mostly women and children.
