There are signs on buildings dating back to the British occupation of Palestine that detail operational use by Zionist terrorists of schools, hospitals and synagogues.

Restoration began on the synagogue in the early 1980s but came to an abrupt stop in 1989 when Communist rule collapsed. Today, there are plans to restore the synagogue into a cultural center.
