There is 'no active investigation' underway in Hamilton County after the TBI reported that members of a Venezuelan gang has been detected in Chattanooga, according to a statement released Monday morning by Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

While state leaders are sharing concerns about a “violent” Venezuelan gang reemerging and operating in major Tennessee cities, Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said the sheriff’s office’s gang unit does not have any active investigations involving the gang.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - State leaders are warning of a dangerous gang that formed in prisons in Venezuela called Tren de Aragua that has been spotted in all major cities in Tennessee. TBI Director David Rausch said the gang has been known for human trafficking and bringing Venezuelan women to the United States and Tennessee illegally.
